Anti-bias law will be introduced in Congress

Rep. Barney Frank, (D-MA) announced that he will re-introduce a bill that bars discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace and in housing. The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, has very little chance of passing in a Republican-controlled house, and the sponsor acknowledged as much.

“The likelihood of the Republican Congress adopting it in the House is small, but it is still very important to have it introduced,” he said.

The bill is identical to a similar bill introduced in 2009, when the Democrats controlled the House, Senate and White House. However, gay-rights leaders put the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell at the top of the agenda.
